How phone trade-in works in Malaysia

A trade-in just means handing over your old device and putting its value toward something else, or taking the cash instead. At Berry Nice you can do both: trade your phone toward another phone, trade up, trade down, even swap a phone for a tablet, or skip the swap and sell it for instant cash. Your call, no pressure either way.

Your trade-in price works the same way a buyback quote does: the model and current market demand set the ceiling, then condition, battery health, and whether you still have the box and accessories decide where you land. We check all of it in front of you during our 33-point inspection, so the number is never a mystery.

Want to trade toward a different device? Browse what we currently have to buy a quality-checked used phone, then WhatsApp us and we will work out the difference. Most trade-in inspections take 15 to 30 minutes, and any balance is paid or collected on the spot via DuitNow. Selling an Apple device? Here is how to trade in your iPhone specifically.

Trading in your phone in Malaysia: common questions

What is the best way to trade in my iPhone in Malaysia?
The fastest way is a cash buyback shop. At Berry Nice in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, you WhatsApp your iPhone model, storage, battery health and condition, get an estimate, then walk in or courier the device. Inspection takes 15 to 30 minutes, and you can take the value as instant cash (DuitNow, bank transfer or cash) or put it toward another device, with no obligation to buy. Carrier and retailer trade-in programs are an alternative, but they usually pay in store credit rather than cash.
Where can I trade in a second hand phone in Malaysia?
You have three main options: a cash buyback shop like Berry Nice (instant cash, no forced purchase, walk in at our KL store or courier from anywhere in Malaysia), retailer or telco trade-in programs (convenient when upgrading, but usually store credit), or online marketplaces like Mudah and Carousell (potentially more money, but slower and riskier). For instant cash today, a buyback shop is the quickest and safest.
How much is my phone worth for trade-in?
Your trade-in value depends on the model, current market demand, physical condition, battery health, and whether you still have the box and accessories. WhatsApp Berry Nice with those details for an estimate; the final offer is confirmed after a 15 to 30 minute inspection done in front of you.
Can I trade in a phone with a cracked screen or no box?
Yes. Cracked screens, weak batteries and missing boxes still have value; the offer simply reflects the repair cost or the missing items. The main exceptions are iCloud-locked or Google-locked (FRP) devices, which we cannot accept.
Do I have to buy something to trade in my phone at Berry Nice?
No. Berry Nice pays cash for your device with no obligation to buy anything. You can trade toward another device from our quality-checked stock if you want, or simply take the money. Your choice.

More trade-in & buyback questions

Where can I sell my used phone in Malaysia?
You can sell your used phone to Berry Nice, a gadget buyback shop based in Kuala Lumpur. WhatsApp us your device details for an estimated quote, then walk in or courier your device for inspection.
How long does the diagnostic check take?
Most inspections are completed within 15–30 minutes. Complex cases such as MacBooks, cameras, or faulty devices may take a little longer.
How will I receive my payout?
Instantly via DuitNow or bank transfer once you accept the final offer. Cash payouts may be available for in-store transactions, confirm with us when you visit.
Can I sell a smartphone with a cracked screen?
Yes. We buy phones with cracked screens, but the offer will be adjusted to reflect repair cost.
Can I sell a phone that has low battery health?
Yes. Battery health below 80% affects the offer but doesn't disqualify the device.
Can I sell without the original box or accessories?
Yes. The box and accessories add value, but they're not required.
Do you require the original purchase receipt?
Not always, but a receipt or proof of ownership helps speed up the process, especially for high-value devices.
Do you buy faulty or non-functional gadgets?
Often, yes. Send us the details via WhatsApp and we'll let you know if we can make an offer.
Do you buy iCloud-locked or activation-locked devices?
No. We only buy devices that are fully signed out and where Find My / Activation Lock has been removed.
Can I courier my device to Berry Nice?
Yes. Message us first, we'll walk you through packaging, courier choice, and how the inspection-then-payout flow works for remote sellers. Courier transactions are subject to Berry Nice verification, inspection, and courier handling policy.
Do I need to reset my device before selling?
We recommend it. Back up first, sign out of all accounts (iCloud, Google, Samsung), then factory reset. If you're unsure, we can guide you in-store.
What documents do I need when selling my phone?
For safety and ownership verification, sellers may be required to provide a valid MyKad, passport, or company document before completing the transaction. For higher-value devices, the original purchase receipt or any proof of ownership is also helpful but not always required.
