How to Prepare a Huawei Phone Before Selling
Huawei phones are accepted with or without Google services, so you don't need to worry about that part. What matters is that the phone is not tied to your Huawei ID or Google account when it reaches us. A phone that is still linked can't be set up by the next owner, and that stops a sale. This is the order to do things in. Menu names can vary slightly between EMUI and HarmonyOS versions, so follow the closest match on your screen.
Step 1: Back up what you want to keep
A factory reset wipes everything. Before you start, move photos, contacts, messages and app data somewhere safe. Options include Huawei Phone Clone to a new phone, Huawei Cloud, or a copy to your computer. For general advice, see our backup guide. Open a few files on the new device to confirm they came across.
Step 2: Turn off Find Device and sign out of Huawei ID
Go to Settings, tap your Huawei ID at the top, and switch off Find Device. Then sign out of the account. If you have forgotten the password, reset it first on Huawei's account website. Doing this before the reset is far easier than after.
Step 3: Remove your Google account (if your phone has one)
If the phone has Google services and you signed in, remove the Google account under Settings, Users and accounts. This avoids Google FRP locking the phone after the reset. If your Huawei has no Google services, skip this step. See our FRP guide for more detail.
Step 4: Remove SIM and memory card
Take out your SIM card and any memory card, including Huawei's NM card if your model uses one. Keep them with you. Data on a memory card is not covered by the phone's reset.
Step 5: Factory reset
Go to Settings, System and updates, Reset, then Reset phone. Confirm with your lock screen password. The phone restarts and shows the setup screen when it finishes. Keep it above 50% battery during the process. Don't set it up again.
Step 6: Check the basics before you hand it over
- Screen, buttons and cameras work as they should.
- Charging port charges normally.
- The phone is not telco-locked (we do not buy telco-locked Android).
- Include the original box and charger if you still have them.

WhatsApp Berry NiceFrequently asked questions
Do you buy Huawei phones without Google services?+
Yes. Huawei phones are accepted with or without Google services. Condition, model, storage and battery health decide the price, not whether Google apps are installed.
Why does my Huawei ID matter?+
A phone still signed in to a Huawei ID, with Find Device switched on, can ask for that account after a reset. If you no longer have access to it, the phone cannot be reused. Sign out and turn off Find Device before you reset.
Do I also need to remove my Google account?+
If your Huawei has Google services and you signed in to a Google account, remove it before resetting. Otherwise Google FRP can lock the phone after the reset. Phones without Google services will not have this step.
Will you buy a Huawei that is telco-locked?+
No. We do not take telco-locked Android phones. If you are unsure, contact your carrier to confirm the phone is unlocked, or see our guide on checking whether an Android phone is carrier-locked.
What is the best way to move my data to a new phone?+
Huawei Phone Clone moves data directly between phones, which is the simplest option when your new phone is also Huawei or supports the app. Otherwise use cloud backup or a computer backup. Always confirm the transfer worked before you reset.
